Heatwave Bites as Power Supply Falters; Labour Pushes ₦100,000 Allowance in Lagos

Rising temperatures and erratic electricity supply have left many Nigerian households struggling to cope with the heat, PUNCH reported on Saturday.

At the same time, organised labour is pushing state governments to adopt the Federal Government's ₦70,000 transport allowance initiative, with the Lagos chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress proposing ₦100,000 a month for workers in the state.

In Lagos politics, APC governorship candidate and Deputy Governor Dr Kadri Hamzat has unveiled a 100-point manifesto ahead of the 2027 election.

Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged direct sun exposure at midday and check on elderly neighbours.
