The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) says it has identified two suspected cases of Ebola disease in the North-East, according to reports published on Sunday, 1 November 2026.
Both individuals have been isolated, and laboratory investigations are under way to confirm or rule out infection. Contact identification and listing have also begun to prevent possible spread.
Okay News reported on Sunday morning that tests on samples in Yola came back negative, though officials had not issued a final all-clear at the time of writing.
The alert comes as the Ebola outbreak in DR Congo continues to claim lives, raising concern about cross-border risks. Nigerians are urged to report fever, bleeding or unexplained illness after travel to affected areas, and to avoid panic while results are confirmed.
