INEC: No Shift in 2027 Elections, Final Voters' Register Out December 15
Commission chairman Joash Amupitan insists the statutory timetable stands as voter-record disputes heat up.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has no plan to postpone the 2027 general elections, ruling out any change to the statutory timetable.
INEC Chairman Joash Amupitan gave the assurance on Saturday during a meeting with commission staff in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, according to PUNCH. He also disclosed that the final voters' register would be released on December 15.
The statement comes as the voters' register has become one of the most contested issues of the pre-election season. On Friday, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and the NDC pressed INEC over what they described as questionable voter records, while the commission promised corrections before certification, Premium Times reported.
Amupitan's remarks are intended to settle speculation about the election calendar as parties step up mobilisation. Opposition groups say they will scrutinise the final register when it is published.
Civique News will track the release of the register and any claims-and-objections window that follows.
